According to the Hartford Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area around 10:50 p.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of a shooting at the scene but found no victims initially.

Moments later, dispatchers informed officers that a male gunshot victim had been located at the intersection of Essex Street and Retreat Avenue.

Rodriguez was transported to Hartford Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced deceased despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions have taken over the investigation. Authorities have secured surveillance footage from the scene of the altercation, which reportedly involved multiple individuals and vehicles.

However, investigators currently believe only one suspect was responsible for the shooting.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have yet to identify any suspects.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
