26-year-old Korry Lynch charged for shooting mother in the head in Hopewell

Hopewell, VA – Authorities in Hopewell are conducting a thorough investigation following a shooting incident that left a woman critically injured.At approximately 11:46 p.m., the Hopewell Police Department responded to a report of a female shooting victim in the 500 block of North 7th Avenue. The suspect, Korry Jamal Lynch, a 26-year-old Hopewell resident and the son of the victim, has been taken into custody.

Hopewell, VA – Authorities in Hopewell are conducting a thorough investigation following a shooting incident that left a woman critically injured.

At approximately 11:46 p.m., the Hopewell Police Department responded to a report of a female shooting victim in the 500 block of North 7th Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency medical personnel provided immediate care at the scene before transporting the victim to TriCities Hospital.

Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to Chippenham Hospital for advanced treatment.

Her condition is described as life-threatening.

The suspect, Korry Jamal Lynch, a 26-year-old Hopewell resident and the son of the victim, has been taken into custody.

Lynch faces the following felony charges:

  • Aggravated Malicious Wounding
  • Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling
  • Grand Larceny

Lynch was transported to the Riverside Regional Jail and is being held without bond.

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit is leading the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to assist in the investigation.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
