Authorities in Park Forest are investigating the fatal shooting of two women inside a residence on Miami Street Thursday evening.
At approximately 6:08 p.m., Park Forest Police responded to a report of a gunshot victim at a home in the 300 block of Miami Street.
Upon arrival, officers forced entry into the residence and discovered two women unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds.
Two unharmed children were also located inside the home.
The victims have been identified as 51-year-old Lillian K. Brown and 30-year-old Sabrina McCain.
Tragically, one woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The children found in the home were taken to area hospitals as a precaution and are reported to be unharmed.
Preliminary findings suggest the shooting was an isolated incident, with police indicating that the victims and the suspect were known to one another.
Authorities have not yet released any information regarding a possible motive or suspect.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
