Baltimore County Police have confirmed that one person was killed and nine others were hospitalized following a mass shooting in Towson on Tuesday night.

Authorities plan to provide updates during a news conference on Wednesday as the investigation continues.

Throughout the night, Baltimore County detectives worked diligently at the scene, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

Officials have urged anyone with information to come forward by contacting 410-887-4636.

Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough reported that officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 7:12 p.m. in response to reports of multiple gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle overturned and engulfed in flames.

Baltimore County Fire Department units, led by Fire Chief Joseph Dixon, quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and provide medical assistance to the victims.

According to McCullough, the car fire appeared to result from a crash, though the circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.

Chief McCullough described the incident as a targeted act, emphasizing that those involved appeared to know each other.

Shell casings were discovered scattered across the scene, and bullet impacts were visible on a nearby building facade.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” McCullough stated. “We will leave no stone unturned and will dedicate every resource available to bring justice to those impacted by this violence.”

Baltimore County Executive and Congressman-elect Johnny Olszewski Jr. called the shooting “unheard of in Baltimore County” and expressed his full support for law enforcement efforts.

Authorities are urging the public to assist with the investigation. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland at 1-866-756-2587 (7LOCKUP) or online. Tips leading to an arrest may qualify for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
