UPDATE: Omaha Police have apprehended Yolanda Barfield, 33, in connection with a tragic shooting in North Omaha that claimed the life of a 6-year-old girl.

In an update released Monday, authorities confirmed that Barfield has been charged with child abuse by neglect and child abuse by intent. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Omaha, NE – The Omaha Police Department has identified the 6-year-old girl fatally wounded in a shooting on Sunday afternoon as Alonni Barfield.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 32nd Street and Redick Avenue around 4:00 PM after receiving reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, they found young Alonni Barfield suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency medical personnel transported the child to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for treatment.

Tragically, despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and it remains unclear whether it was accidental or intentional.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
