1 killed after shooting on Picquet Avenue in Augusta
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in Augusta, marking the county’s 49th homicide this year.
At approximately 11:22 a.m., deputies responded to the 1500 block of Picquet Avenue following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying in the street near the intersection of Picquet Avenue and Gordon Street.
The victim, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound, was pronounced deceased at the scene by authorities.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, according to the Richmond County Coroner’s Office.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and no information about potential suspects has been disclosed at this time.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
