The West Memphis Police Department has identified the victim of Friday morning’s fatal shooting at Southland Casino in West Memphis, Arkansas, as Orlando Garza.
The suspect has been named as Travis Boyd, though the specific charges against him have not yet been disclosed.
The shooting occurred just before 4 a.m. in the casino’s parking lot, according to Southland Casino’s Director of Communications.
When West Memphis Police responded to the scene, they confirmed that Garza had succumbed to his injuries.
Police have clarified that this was an isolated incident and emphasized that the casino has robust security measures in place, including advanced weapons detection systems at each entrance to prevent firearms and other weapons from entering the building.
Glen White, Director of Communications for Southland Casino, issued a statement to reassure the public:

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
