20-year-old Amauria Caffey killed in Birmingham shooting

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed Tuesday that 20-year-old Amauria Rardrecus Caffey was identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Birmingham.

According to reports, Caffey was shot on the 1600 block of 5th Street North in Birmingham on Saturday, November 4, around 12:12 p.m.

First responders pronounced Caffey dead at the scene at approximately 12:45 p.m., just over 30 minutes after the initial report.

The Birmingham Police Department has since launched a homicide investigation into Caffey’s death, working to gather more information about the events leading up to the shooting.

Detectives are currently seeking leads from the public as they examine nearby surveillance footage and interview potential witnesses to identify suspects or a motive in the case.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
