SWAT officer Jonathan Caporaso injured during standoff with suspect at Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown Atlanta

A SWAT officer with the Atlanta Police Department, Jonathan Caporaso, was injured during a standoff with an armed suspect at the Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown Atlanta on Tuesday morning.
The incident began when police responded to a mental health emergency involving 70-year-old Jay Steven Berger, a resident of the hotel.
Berger became increasingly agitated and fired multiple shots from his apartment, injuring the officer.
A SWAT team was deployed to the scene and, after hours of negotiation, was able to apprehend Berger.
The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
Berger is expected to face multiple charges, including aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
