44-year-old Darnell Porter killed in Mechanicsville Turnpike shooting
The second victim remains in critical condition at a nearby medical facility.
The Henrico County Police Division is investigating a double shooting incident that occurred on Friday night, October 4th, on Mechanicsville Turnpike.
The incident has now been classified as a homicide.
Around 8:30 PM, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3600 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike.
Upon arrival, they discovered two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
One of the victims, 44-year-old Darnell Lee Porter, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The second victim remains in critical condition at a nearby medical facility.
The Henrico County Police Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
