10-year-old Lamar Johnson II killed in Peoria shooting

The autopsy on the youth, 10-year-old Lamar T. Johnson, II, of the 400 block of S. Grand Ave, Springfield, IL, demonstrates that he suffered a gunshot wound of the chest and likely died within seconds following the shooting.
PEORIA, IL Sunday, September 29, 2024, at approximately 7:36 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 600 block of W. RB Garrett on a Shot Spotter alert of two rounds fired.
When officers arrived, they located a male juvenile (10 years old) down with an apparent gunshot wound.
The male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the victim and cause of death will be released by the Peoria County Coroner.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
There is currently no suspect information.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
