Marion County Deputy Leslie Boileau Accidentally Shoots and Kills Girlfriend While Cleaning Guns
Based on these findings, Leslie Boileau has been arrested on charges of manslaughter.

A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy has been charged with manslaughter following the accidental shooting death of his girlfriend.
According to the Ocala Police Department, officers responded to a home in the Highlands area on Thursday night after receiving a call from Leslie Dale Boileau. Boileau, a deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, informed 911 dispatchers that he had accidentally shot his 25-year-old girlfriend, Polina Wright.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Wright deceased with a gunshot wound to the forehead. A handgun and a rifle were also found at the scene. Boileau explained to officers that he and Wright were cleaning and dry-firing the weapons. He claimed that while demonstrating the use of the rifle, he accidentally fired a loaded round, resulting in Wright’s death.
Physical evidence found at the scene aligns with Boileau’s account.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss,” said Police Chief Mike Balken. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The Ocala Police Department is working closely with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure justice is served.”
