Russell County Deputy Joshua Phipps killed in the line of duty
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, and the community is mourning the loss of Deputy Phipps.

Russell County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Phipps was tragically killed in the line of duty on Monday night, according to the Russell County Fiscal Court.
The incident occurred on Bluebird Drive in Russell County, involving a lone shooter.
Deputy Phipps was fatally shot while responding as backup during an active shooter incident. He was transported to Russell County Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
There is no ongoing threat to the public.

Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman traveled to Russell County to assist in the investigation and was among the officers who responded to Deputy Phipps’ aid.

The body of Russell County Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Phipps is being escorted to the medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
