Suspect in Trump Assassination Attempt, Ryan Wesley Routh, Previously Charged with Possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction

A report from December 2002 detailed an incident involving a then 36-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, who fled from police during a traffic stop and barricaded himself inside a roofing business for three hours.

The standoff resulted in Routh being charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of weapons of mass destruction, referring to a fully-automatic machine gun.

A standoff ended early Monday morning when authorities arrested an armed man who barricaded himself inside a Greensboro business.

Ryan Routh, 36, was taken into custody without incident at 1 a.m. after a three-hour ordeal at United Roofing. The incident began Sunday night when Routh was stopped during a traffic stop and allegedly reached for a firearm. He then drove to the business, where he remained barricaded.

Routh faces charges including carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a fully automatic machine gun (classified as a weapon of mass destruction), resisting arrest, and driving on a revoked license.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.

As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.

The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.

At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.

The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
