Michigan State officer Daniel Kerstetter died after being struck by a car while conducting a traffic stop on I-75

A Michigan State Police officer has tragically lost his life after being struck by a car while conducting a traffic stop on I-75.
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM on Friday morning near Dix in Lincoln Park. Motor Carrier Officer Daniel Kerstetter was stopped on the northbound side of I-75 when his patrol vehicle was struck by a Ford Explorer.
The Explorer had reportedly struck the median wall before veering into the officer’s vehicle, pushing it into the back of a semi-truck.
Despite being belted in, Officer Kerstetter sustained critical injuries and was transported to DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The female driver of the Explorer was also transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the semi-truck was unharmed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the fatal crash.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
The public is asked to remain clear of the immediate area to allow for the ongoing investigation.
