25-year-old Dante Sprouse killed following burglary, crash and shooting in New Britain

A man was fatally injured in a series of events that unfolded in New Britain on Thursday morning.
According to police, the incident began with a burglary on Kelsey Street, followed by a car accident and a shooting.
Local schools, Smith Elementary and the Roosevelt Early Learning Center, were placed on shelter-in-place as a precautionary measure, which has since been lifted.
The victim, identified as Dante Malcom Sprouse, 25, was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
New Britain Police Chief Matt Marino stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public and that no suspects are currently in custody.
The police department is actively investigating the connected incidents.

Suspect in custody after shooting at Meridian Mall

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a shooting incident at the Meridian Mall on Friday afternoon.
As a result, the lockdown at the mall has been lifted.
The Meridian Township Police Department issued a public advisory just before 2:00 p.m., urging residents and shoppers to avoid the area near the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance while officers conducted an active investigation at the scene.
At this time, police have not released specific details regarding the nature of the shooting, including whether anyone was injured or the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident and are expected to provide additional information as it becomes available.
